The Vuitton Épi leather.
The Épi leather is one of the most recognisable signatures of Louis Vuitton, introduced in 1985. At a time when the house was primarily associated with its Monogram and Damier canvases, Louis Vuitton sought to offer a more modern, more discreet and above all more durable alternative.

An inspiration drawn from wheat.
Épi leather takes its name and aesthetic from wheat fields swept by the wind. Its fine, slightly wavy raised lines evoke the natural movement of ears of wheat, creating a pattern that is both graphic and organic.
This texture isn't just about looks: it is designed to hide scratches, enhance durability and offer a leather suited to intensive everyday use.
Épi leather also stands out for its bold colors, sometimes very vivid, which contrast with the traditional codes of luxury.
Louis Vuitton offers Épi leather on several iconic models: Speedy, Alma, Noé, Keepall and small leather goods.
