Dans les années 1930, Gaston-Louis Vuitton reçoit une requête inattendue :
Créer un sac capable de transporter cinq bouteilles de champagne.
Il imagine alors un sac à fond plat, de forme seau, fermé par un cordon coulissant. À la fois fonctionnel et élégant, il est baptisé Noé, en référence à la figure biblique liée à la vigne.
Conçu d’abord comme un sac utilitaire, il gagne rapidement les rues parisiennes… puis le monde. Aux côtés du Speedy, il devient l’un des premiers véritables “it-bags” de Louis Vuitton.
Its revival
Quarante ans plus tard, le Noé se réinvente. Sa bandoulière s’allonge, les silhouettes changent, la mode se modernise.
Louis Vuitton le décline alors dans son célèbre cuir Épi, une matière texturée et colorée qui deviendra indissociable de l’esthétique de la maison.
